Pat's Guide to Glasgow West End

Recommended Posts

We had a nice time in the Merchant City at Doors Open. We went to The Civic Room in High Street. A quirky wee B listed building that was formerly the Linen Bank. We also popped our head in the 19th c Baronial Style Cathedral Hotel - now taking orders for christmas dinner. Initially it was built for a hostel for prisoners when they were released from Duke Street Prison.  I don't know what happens to them now as the Duke Street Homeless Hostel closed in 2001.

The highlight of the day was a visit to Greyfriars Garden in Shuttle Street – part of Open Spaces at Open Doors.  It's amazing to see such a thriving green place and its fabulous allotments, slap bang in the middle of the city.

When we were out I bumped into Gangster's Moll, who used to be a great poster on the forum. :-)
