Great to see Bradley Wiggins doing so well in the race. Tomorrow he looks all set to become Britain's first ever winner.

It's reckoned his performance has boosted the sale of bicycles in Scotland. David Millar, the Scot, won a stage but has dropped back quite a bit. Millar is in the Olympic cycling squad.

Chris Hoy was no slouch and some of the women cyclists brought medals back to Britain last time.

They can always go to Millport to practise.

Maybe the Velodrome will get some use then, or will the novelty have worn off by 2014?

Glasgow is a major cycling city. If more Glaswegians cycled they might live that little bit longer. I was talking to Billy Bilsland's son last week and he was speaking about his dad. He spent every weekend in Wolverhampton because that's where the cycling selectors would be. He was picked for the 1966 Commonwealth Games in Jamaica and the 1968 Olympic in Mexico. Having the Chris Hoy Velodrome might make it easier for Glaswegians to get further in a sport which is not football. Billy tells his story here His Olympic bike was hand built in Glasgow.

I just can't get excited about Le Tour, sorry. No my cup of tea. neither is golf, or cricket, or tennis...or anything sporty really! A wee bit of football and the occasional half hour of the Grand Prix is about all I can get interested in. Oh, and rugby, a real man's game that is!

Well you must be excited and already bought tickets for the USA women's team #1 in the world and Spain's Under 23s playing in Glasgow next week. Glaswegians have always turned out in great numbers for good football. Not a surprise given the usual standard of play in Glasgow.

The race is wonderful and what a fantastic spectacle the cyclists make as they ride through Paris. Go, Bradley on your yellow bike!

Jim and I had a great time when we went to Paris for the final stage in 1988. Need to go again.

I applied for tickets through the uni too, for the Olympic football, but have been unsuccessful. Shame, it was for USA V France (men’s) and Colombia V Korea DPR (women’s).

Glad Mr Wiggins has done Britain proud

Did anyone watch Panorama the other night, about all the specialist running shoes, sports drinks and nutritional supplements? They had Graham Obree on describing his 'nutritional; supplement', 2 slice of bread and some jam. You put the jam on the bread with the 'application device'(knife) and eat. He was very scathing about supplements and special drinks. The team investigating these products found absolutely no benefit was gained from them, surprise surprise!
