Tomorrow is the big day for voting. Predictions are that the turnout will be very poor.

Yes. I've had oceans of junk through the door. Some of the candidates look a bit shifty to me. I think I'll keep it simple and vote party rather than personality. People are in a quandary and tomorrow looks like being a good day so will it be the polls or the parks?

Send a photo of him in a kilt for consideration. Preferably with some hills in the background and accompanied by a couple o heilan' coos and a West Highland Terrier. He'll have to appeal to tourists as well as the locals.

Looks as though turnout in some places was dire. One Oxford Polling Station reported only 14%. In that's apathy for you. Early signs in England show Labour to be doing well having already won 18 seats.

The Guardian reports:

Labour: 39%
Conservatives: 31%
Lib Dems: 14%

Manchester and Nottingham vote against having a Mayor

Nick Clegg on BBC just now is very sad. No wonder. Ukip are one up and BNP dropped a few. Labour is looking very good winning more than 470 seats. Respect have got 5 seats.

Results coming in now in Scotland and so far Glasgow seems to be holding up to some extent against SNP onslaught. Early days though.

Makes me happy to see the Conservatives and the Lib Dems losing seats down south. Nearer home we still don't know who'll be in charge in George Square. Looking like a Coalition. I'm hoping that there will be some confrontations that will keep them on their toes.

I would substitute overconfidence for onslaught.

Standing three SNP candidates in Govan being the worst example. One returned alongside two official Labour candidates and Steven Dornan.

Glasgow has a Labour majority and, more surprisingly, the same in Edinburgh. Gail Sheridan won't be a Councillor this time round. I'm pleased that Frank McAveety will be back. Also got five Greens in Glasgow.

I think it is healthy to have a mix and a challenge - cuts back on the smugness.

I thought that Ken still had a slight chance.

Ken was not a good Labour choice but he was the only viable option to Boris. A "mix and a challenge" might make everyone work a bit harder and that's no bad thing, IMV, anaw.

A friend of ours stood as a candidate in Argyle & Bute .......for the Lib Dems. Am too feart to look up her result.

Winning by 3% doesn't indicate a whole load of confidence, harper, but hopefully it's put the wind up him enough to thrust him into action. I hear there are promises of jobs for young people. You would have thought that after the riots that would have been high on the agenda.
