I've never heard the term used, lynnski, but I like it and believe what Prof Reid says:

"Glasgow currently has one of the most active art-scenes in Europe producing artists of international significance and attracting many more to study and live in the city."

The Art School grads like Martin Boyce winning the Turner Prize help to keep the city and art firmly in the spotlight.

The CCA is a fantastic place and great to see them participating in this study with the Art School.

There are great art projects and enthusiastic people running galleries throughout the city. I am a big fan of Projectability and the Recoat Gallery in North Woodside Road.

It's not the biggest grant in the world but a very interesting topi. The Glasgow Miracle - that's got a nice ring to it.:)

They refer to the Third Eye Centre a lot, is that what the CCA used to be called? The CCA's been the CCA as long as I've been old enough to remember, I think...!

Lynski you do make me laugh... You can't imagine how mind blowing the Third Eye Centre was back in the day, even though it was pretty basic when it started and who few would have guessed that it would still be around today, albeit a much mer safiticated affair. The Third Eye Centre was also where I first met the late Allan Mawn. Sadly, no images but I found a wee bit of history. Gawd, you make me feel auld, girl!

I'm young at heart - well some days. I vividly remember the Third Eye Centre, very arty. It was around for a long time, right into the 90s. When it was first opened Sauchiehall Street was more upmarket. The CCA has a tremendous variety of events, more so than the Third Eye,

When you hear people talking about Glasgow down south they seldom think of it as an arty town but there is a great deal of artistic talent and a lot of cultural events. You would never be stuck for something to do and a great deal of it is free. That in itself is a miracle.
