Hi everybody,

I'm a film-maker and have made a short film which is almost at the stage to submit to festivals. It's a project I've been working on for a year now and very dear to my heart. Details of the film can be found here: Falling for Fitzgerald

Film Festivals are very expensive to submit to, so I'm hoping to hold a fund-raiser event in the form of a ceilidh to raise some key funds. I have a ceilidh band who have pledged to play for free, and now I'm looking to find a perfect venue, preferably in the West End but I'd also consider the City Centre.

Because I'm trying to keep costs down as much as possible, I think a church/scout hall type of venue might be the best (e.g. not a hotel etc.) I'm new to the area (I'm now living on the lovely Queen Margaret Drive) so I thought I'd ask you west enders if you have any ideas of where I could try.

Thank you for your help!

Good luck with the project. You might think about the church halls and the university has some great venues.

Hamilton Memorial Church on University Ave and Cresswell Church on Cresswell Street have quite a lot of community type events.

Queen's Cross Church has a fabulous hall - designed by Charles Rennie Macintosh.

I don't know about costs.

Let me know when the event is planned and I'll promote it on the website.
This is me since yistirday.

Partick Borough Hall has a very big hall and there is a smaller one at the Annexe in Partick. I wish you luck with the film, Amy.

The Dining Room in Glasgow University Union is a regular venue for Ceilidhs and if you know a Union meber it's reasonably priced and so are the drinks.

Glasgow University Union
Murdoch, Soutar and Trump, yours for Scotland?
