Started tonight some of the professional dancers must be disappointed in their partners. Poor Flavia has Russell Grant and Vincent has Edwina Currie.

A few rather strange looking faces - has that young actress Chelsee Healey had a substance injected in her lips? - looks like it. Lulu looks a bit odd too and what about Dolly Parton, who was the guest singer? I can hardly bear to look at her. Her surgeons should be shot.

Jim pandered to me and had a wee look. He thought that Nancy Dell'Olio! was 'gallus' She thinks she's the best known Italian woman in Britain since Sophia Loren.

I'm thinking Jason Donovan and Audley Harrington will be worth watching. :)

I came late to Strictly but I really enjoy it. Great line up but my god, you'd think with aw her money Anita Dobson could afford a decent hair colourist. I saw her on breakfast TV recently and her hair looked like a brillo that was ready for the bin.

A lot of the women have that slightly plastic face thing going on and Dolly is plastic from head to toe. Nancy D is just odd, by anybony's standards.

... Have to say, I thought Lulu was a bit stiff. Edwina is just scary. I thought Russel Grant was deid years ago and I have no idea who most of the bendy young women are.

I thought Lulu would be great but she did look stiff. I didn't notice Anita's hair as I couldn't tear my eyes away from her really odd dress.

I haven't got a clue who the guy is with the long fair hair.

I'm laughing my head off at this:

Nancy D is just odd, by anybony's standards.

I missed the first programme at the week-end but now caught up, I think this is going to be interesting. Poor Nancy got off to a disastrous start when she got tangled with her boa.
Jason Donovan was the star of the start by miles. Lulu as worse than useless.

It's going to be good.:)

Anybody watching?

Nancy is hilarious and what a charmer Audley Harrison is. That Edwina Currie has a helluva big tip for herself considering she's rather short on the rhythm stakes.

Dear all,

this is B.B.C.entertainment at its best, and hits the spot for our age group who are telly watchers on a Saturday evening.
Miss Di'lolio has to be kept in,because she is so full of it with such little justification. She clearly can't dance, and last weeks struggle with the ostrich feather boa was car crash t.v.Hysterical!Don't vote her out. Please
What has Anton du Beck(real name Anthony Beak)done to deserve her,and Miss Widicomb et al in previous series.I dont know.Similarly Lulu normally a great wee mover but struck down by nerves. She claimed memory loss, but i've seen no evidence of that when she is on Q.V.C.punting her Time Bomb products for three hours at a time, and never repeats herself once. She looks great for her age,but a ball room dancer?Lets wait and see.
Rory Bremner is a real revelation, very nimble, great rhythm..likewise Jason Donovan, and Russel Grant for very different reasons. He is very entertaining and doesn't take himself seriously.Keep him in too,but keep the paramedics in the wings just in case.Anita Dobson is doing well,as is the girl whose name may be Chelsee from Waterloo Road.
There is so much ostrich feathers, sequins, spandex, lame, and American tan tights, not to mention Elnett Extra Hold, that the production looks like an explosion in a drag queen finishing school, and all the more fab for it.Can't wait to see who gets voted off tonight.
P.S.Brucie is well passed his sell by date and and Tess looks increasingly like his very well dressed carer..he's got to go.
P.P.S.Aren't the singers and orchestra great.

Well, thats La Currie gone thank goodness. She looked like a galleon in full sale in that dreadfull outfit topped by that fascinator, and she told wardrobe she wanted more cut outs and slashes in her dresses! What? How much does the wardrobe department need to hate you to put you out in that outfit.Quite a lot I suspect.Anyway she was totally unabashed, and her usual overconfidant self with no just cause.
Nancy has lived to tell another tale, and I can hardly wait for the next installment of this...poor Anton.
Lulu got through probably with a good Scottish vote, and those three were the weakest celebrities of this weeks episode.
Like her or loath her Miss Winklemann has a very sharp wit,and Tess can barely keep up poor soul.Still it gives her a bit of variety.Brucie one night Cladia the next..mmmmmm
Could Tess and Claudia be the new little and large,

I'm not sad about the result, Willie. Edwina will be no loss. What a conceited woman - nothing fascinating about her. Nancy, on the other hand, is faintly fascinating, she certainly thinks so. Unfortunately, a dancer she is not.

Lulu and the youngster, Chelsee, look as though they have been to the same botox specialist - something funny about their mouths.

I love Claudia. She is very funny. She is looking a bit rounder than usual but then she's not long after having her third child.

I don't know who was doing there wardrobe but putting all those frills and feather on wee short women was a big mistake (I should know). Lulu and Chelsee looked positively stunted.

Anita Dobson is a strange one... all bones, teeth and nerves. And Nancy - well did you ever see such a self important, cream puff in your life - and apparently still under 50?

It's quite a wierd line up.

Yeah as if,Nancys under 50 in dog years, and that makes her 153 plus vat.
Anita looks strangely washed out as if she needs 2 pints of blood, and three square meals at least. Not helped by the Carmen Miranda outfit either.Just be thankfull she and Brian May havn't had any children.
Its tragic as ladies get older and go to far with the botox/fillers/nip tucks. There is a tipping point and Pat,you are right, Dolly has gone too far.Ive always thought she had the loveliest wee face, but shes spoiled herself now.
Its one of my fave programmes I must say,

My hairdresser's boyfriend is a British Airways cabin crew type person. He has been flying for yonks and is knocking on 52, although he lies through his teeth. He is not averse to a bit of "work" and swears on his mother's life that the last time he went for a bit of bo, as we call it, a certain wumin was being sneaked out the back door in dark glasses and bandages.... the same wumin who claims her youthful good looks are down to her skincare range.

Chelsee and Nancy are definately suffering from "pillow face". Faye Dunnaway is bearly recognisable and Madonna is looking like a bit of a hampster these days - which makes you wonder if there is such a thing as good plastic surgery.

I am fascinated by Anita Dobson. I might have said this before but you would think with all her dosh she would do something about the colour of her hair. Unless it's the contrast on my telly, it looks like a really bad home job.

They say women over 50 have to choose between the face or the ass. I'll take the plumper face cheeks over the scrawny face, skinny ass look any day....

Anita isn't the looker that Holly is but I think her acting ability is paying dividends. The wummin has won oceans of awards, not just for her acting, but she's also been rear of the year and even got some hairstyle award in the 80s.

I find her endearing. She's got a very warm smile. I hope she does well.

I think the 'work' is a bad idea, of course, you don't know who's a good advert for it because you won't notice it.

I can't in all honesty say that I made a choice, harper, but I was overjoyed when I started to loose the skinny ass. That was a while ago now.

I'm wondering if he hasn't got just too much of an unfair advantage?

Kristina is in seventh heaven and it is so good for her but he doesn't acknowledge her very much.

You are right Pat,Donovan makes no reference to his partner, so its very much the Jason show.
On the subject of the judges, can anyone tell me why the singer Aleisha Dixon is stll on the judges panel of experts, apart from brass neck. She was once a competitor in the competition and there she sits reeling off technical jargon that she wants to see improving!I don't know how the other three judges take her seriously. But supremely confidant of course.
Don't forget she displaced Arlene Philips who spent her whole life in the dance profession, and who certainly new her stuff and had all her marbles when she was replaced. She had of course committed the mortal sin of being of a certain age.How dare she! Then you have "comedian" and presenter Brucie, who looks as if he will be live-linked from his care-home bed to continue bumbling through the show, and who hasn't said anything remotely funny for 30 years. So its plain to see sexism and ageism are alive and well on television, but only if you are a woman of course.

Now that you have both pointed it out, I see what you mean about Jason.

I like the Brucie but I think the formula is becoming a bit predictable. Women of a certain age who struggle and a comedy act - see John Sargent, Anne Widecombe and now, Russel Grant.

I like Brucie and think he does a good job. I haven't a clue who Craig and Bruno are or what they do. Len Goodman is delightful, IMV but what I really want to see is the big sticky oot dresses and a bit of formation dancing.

Bring back Come Dancing.

Have you not caught the professional dancers doing their stuff, harper? Think that's the nearest you're going to get to Come Dancing.

The programme is a wee bit forumulaic with the politician, the comic figure, the sportsmen and soap characters but I suppose it's proven to be successful.

I agree with Willie regarding Alisha. Lovely looking woman but she is pretty inconsistent. She's full of encouragement for some but beware if you're not a favourite. I know Nancy's dance was pants in more ways than one but even Craig didn't give her a score of two!
