I am not sure if I was unlucky or lucky reading Lynsky's problems with tonsilitis.

I was of a generation (child of the 60s) where they whipped them out first sign of a cough.

Mine were long gone before I started school. Hope you feel better soon, lynnski. I agree with harper about building up immunity. Check out LDN.

Cheers folks! I'm generally ok otherwise! Honest! I've been on a diet since Feb and have lost 10lbs, I'm eating loads of veggies and fruit, and have cut out loads of sugary crap and pastry. I've taken to walking as much as possible and have regularly walked from Ibrox to Byres Rd in the past month. I'm probably the healthiest I've been since my early 20s right now, and I'm not even stressed about upcoming exams. I'm nearly 38 and have never had tonsillitis before last May. It's all quite odd that I should get it this late in life, and so frequently too, everything I've read about it points to it being rare in adults. Maybe being asthmatic means I'm more prone to getting things like this. Who knows?!

I have, however, spent the past 2 days catching up on seasons 5 and 6 of Criminal Minds, brilliant cheesy FBI crime drama, and being lain upon by 2 cats vying for my attention. I am now at one end of the couch with a tiny patch of quilt over me while they are at the other, stretched out and snoring loudly!!

Take any small pleasure you can, lynnski, you'll get better all the quicker.

I thought you were looking great when I bumped into you recently so keep up the healthy lifestyle.

A work colleague had to leave work early last week after receiving a call from her hysterical 17 year old daughter about their cat. She texted me later to say she had taken the cat to the vet. "He had a temp and swollen tonsills" Cost..... £80.00. Outch!

I never knew cat's had tonsils....

Your my inspiration, lynnski. I walked home from Uni today. Perfect conditions - nothing to carry and the sun was out. :) I feel so virtuous now - and exhausted.

The being ill and the recent bad weather have put paid to my walking quite a bit :( I was getting quite good at it, and not being as out of breath as I used to, but now I'm sort of back at square one. Walking any distance brings on the shin splints and the cramp. Guess I'll just need to persevere!

I'm the same, lynnski, one step forward and two back. I've overdone it over the week-end and now utterly exhausted. Good weather and pacing yourself - that's the best combination. Hope you get back on track soon.

Not so good, lynnski. I've had the repeat dose of the antibios too. We're not getting enough sun. Hope you feel better soon. x

Fourth dose of it in 15 months! This time I saw a different doctor, who said when I get it again, to ask to see her, and she'll refer me to the hospital. Not if, when! Progress at least. Another lot of antibiotics and another week's wages lost. Ho Hum. Hope you get better soon too, Pat.

About time you saw a specialist, lynnski. It's rotten and especially when you've not long started your new job.

I'm feeling better and going out. The duty doctor is going to call me on the mobile to see if I need more meds. I would just love a run of even four weeks feeling well. My problem is the lyme as my immune system doesn't cope well with bugs.

Hope you're up to reading, lynnski, and get well soon. Would be great if you could get this sorted once and for all. x

Funnily enough I'm just back from the doctors. Finished the antibiotics on Friday, but I still have a swollen face, the tiredness and coughing up stuff, eew! Doc has decided no more antibiotics are necessary and has prescribed me a numbing throat spray instead, even though I told him I don't have much of a sore throat...

I really wish the swelling would go down, I feel quite conscious of it. Big hamster face!!
