He's got a cheeky wee face.

We saw Spiderman recently. Great effects but I'm not too sure about the more logical approach to his special powers.

Just give me a good old vampire any day. Garlic up your jukes and a silver bullet and you're all fixed.

This should be great:

What We Have Done, What We Are About To Do

CCA, Sauchiehall Street

Saturday 18 August - Saturday 15 September 2012

11:00am - 6:00pm: FREE

Ages: all

This exhibition reveals over 70 films documenting the activity of the Third Eye Centre in the 1970s. The footage covers the early existence of the organisation in Blythswood Square, the construction of a gallery space and cafe in 350 Sauchiehall St and the appearance of many famous artists, bands and performers. In the spirit of the age, the films also chart Glasgow itself, audiences and activities in the art centre, and key figures such as Jimmy Boyle, John Byrne, Michael Craig-Martin, Madelaine Taylor, Keith Tippett and Tom McGrath.

Full details.

Went to see BRAVE tonight at the Clydebank Empire accompanied by Mrs Samscafe and our 10 year old theatre and film critic.

Superb scenery, clearly designed for the 3D market (we stuck with 2D version) with loads of depth scenery shots and waterfalls. Really enjoyed the film, its not a bad wee story (I'll not ruin it) and has several great laughs. What was really fascinating was listening to phrases your own mother used being used by these animated characters. The main character, Merida (watch out for loads of Meridas starting nursery 3-4 years from now :D ), has glorious red hair and three wee brothers who nearly steal the show.

Good to see a packed cinema and queues waiting to get into the next showing.

For this genre - animated family movies - I'd give it a 9 out of 10.
The reasonable expectations of honest men must be protected.

Thanks, samsc. Good to know. Sometimes you are put off when there is just too much hype.
Mind you I think Diary of a Wimpy Kid might knock Brave into second position on our weans' 'to do list' for the rest of the school holidays.

Took Ryan to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days. I enjoyed a wee snooze.

Saw the trailer for Brave, samsc. I'm now a Merida fan. She looks like a positive role model. :)

Searching for Sugarman:

Really interesting docuementary about 70s musician, Rodriguez, whose album Cold Facts became the anthem for the appartaid movement in South Africa.....

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2125608/

I had never heard of him but the sound track, featuring tracks form his album are haunting and beautiful.

8 oot of 10 for me:)

On at GFT, harper.

Engaging documentary tribute:
Searching For Sugar Man

Friday 17 - Thursday 23 August

Searching for Sugar Man is a tribute to the talent of Detroit-born singer-songwriter Rodriguez and tells the true story of the greatest 70s rock star that never was. After releasing two critically-acclaimed albums in the early 70s, which failed commercially and led to the end of his record contract, Rodriguez disappeared amid rumours that he had committed suicide live on stage. In South Africa, however, it was a different story. The albums were hugely popular, Rodriguez became bigger than The Rolling Stones and his music was the soundtrack to the lives of many, including two men who set out to discover what happened to their hero in this engaging documentary.

Thanks for the tip, harper.:) We went along to GFT this evening and loved the movie. Just as well he still alive as who on earth could have played that part? What a great story and what an interesting character.

Did you receive your SNP recruitment pack after the show? Alex Salmond was at Clydebank Empire when I was there handing them out :)

SPOILER DISCUSSION

It was just incredible. He was unbelievably relaxed. What a lovely family he had but no mention of the mother?

Let us know if you manage to find an album, harper.
