We are just in after 8 hours driving. I've hugged ma 6foot wean till his pips sqeaked. The takeaway is on the way and we are knackered.
We'll post more later but just wanted to say a big thank you to the folks for making us feel so welcome. It was a real pleasure:)))
My phone died the death on me last night, so apologies for the messages that didn't get picked up. I can't access voicemail or get a signal - the whole thing has gone wonky.
Tara the noo,

The boay was definately pleased to see us. I think I come up to his chist when we hug.
The Burns Nights was wonderful and the rendition of Tam O'Shanter was the best I've seen. It was a really good night - all the more touching seeing the organiser, Mick West, pay tribute to the loss of his friend and fellow perfromer, Alistair Hulett.
The haggis was great and the performers were cracking:)

Yes, sure was a lot of talent on display, harper, and Fergus Muirhead's Tam O'Shanter was indeed 'wonderful'. The RSAMD students were knocked out to hear Peter Livingtone, perform his much loved song The Mission Hall, along with his brother Gavin. Mick was clearly very upset about Alistair Hullet's death.

You better mister, or you are catmeat:)
Btw, I dragged Mr H up to Anniesland and we went looking for the Temple piggery... real pigs, honest. If you see come across anthing on Hidden Glasgow, please give me a shout. Given the odd look that Rolo gave me when I mentioned it, I'm beginning to wonder if I imagined it.

Yeah, sure, I was a tad quizzical..........when you said you were up at Temple looking for the Piggery I kinda assumed it was some bizarre name for a new pub at first!
Hahahaha! HH to the rescue soonish, I imagine...

No idea where it was though
My uncle had a big piggery at Langbank Milngavie & I seem to remember him talking about it. May have been about an outbreak of Swine Fever (no flu) & worried about it spreading or maybe it was foot & mouth. Another little memory, completely forgotten, sees the light of day again.
Was it on road to Balmore from the city????

There's a few farm-type places up at Langbank to this day. The wean's kitten spends a coupla weeks a year in 5* luxury at the cat hotel up there. I've never noticed a piggery on the road up but I'll have a look next time. Mainly Ayrshire cattle farms I think.
And yeah, up the Balmore Road out of Glasgow till you get to the roundabout at Dobbie's. Right for Torrance and Milton of Campsie, left for Milngavie.
Langbank's off to the right as you drive towards Milngavie.

Yeah thats correct. Turned left off Langbank Road & down a side road. Uncle's property adjoined someones estate. Very hazy. If memory serves he had about 1,200 pigs.
BTW was meaning Temple farm. Was it on Balmore road on the left heading North?

Bearsden Rd is a mile or two west of Balmore Road, they kinda run parallel to the north of town, then meet up via Auchenhowie Road in the douce suburbs of Milngavie...
See if you go into Go*gle maps and key in Bearsden Road, Glasgow G13 and then pan slightly north and east you'll get my drift there.
There'll be folks around here that have the definitive answer on Temple Farm, though.

Was up visiting Uncle at Langbank & there was a German & his wife there. Apparently he had been a POW & worked in Uncle's piggery for a few years during war. He said he was well treated & was happy working there. He had brought his wife back to introduce her to Uncle & Aunt .
Was there a POW camp around there?
Looked at Google Earth, picked out what I think was house but the pig styes & sheds have all vanished
