That sounds like a great day out Pat and looks like you are getting your five a day.

Our sweet peas are awesome. Very strong tendrils, a lovely scent and lots of colour variations.

I adore sweet peas, rory. Lovely fragrance too.
This is me since yistirday.

I think that is them gone for this year. The gales wrecked havoc with our wee garden but it looks as though the Michaelmus dasies have stood up well and we still have plenty of tatties to dig up.

Moira and me are going up to Dobbies this week-end to select some tulip and daff bulbs.

The bulbs are all planted and the winter pansies are looking very healthy.

The pansies sound lovely, rory.
My dahlias are still looking amazing on the verandah. First year I've planted them and there's one huge white spikey flower that I particularly like. A real show off.
I've planted some tulips called 'black blend' (Morrison's sure have the exotic names ) They look lovely deep purples and wines with white markings.

Won't be long until Spring.

Just got rained off the allotment. Still it was a worthwhile visit and came home with the last of the corn, some giant courgettes, runner beans (a wee bit rough but will cut up small for soup), cabbage and loads of parsley. I am amazed that our giant pink poppy is blooming, yet again!

We've still loads of spuds but will get them up on a dryer day.

The allotment is looking rather miserable but the soil is in good shape not too waterlogged but masses of work to do.

Roll on some good weather. I had plans for tomorrow but rotten forecast.

I managed a wee trip to the allotment yesterday. I can honestly say that I am a very slow gardener because after three hours digging, turning earth and weeding there is little impression. A long, long way to go before the plot takes shape for this year.

The shelter is needing a scraping down and coating of Cuprinol but the weather forecast is for rain, possibly snow next Friday. Yikes!

Well done, harper. Your neighbour must be pleased. Lost chocolate cow and chicken in our house - they must be away together.

The stray animals turned up. I had put them on the medicine shelf.

Had a lovely day today at the allotment. It was a busy place due to the sunny weather so nice catching up with all the other plotters. I also made a bit of headway with clearing the ground and getting all set for some planting.

Jim and Ryan assembled our new bench and container so getting kind of swanky. :)

I worked like a Trojan at the allotment today and banished many weeds. I also planted some sweet peas, runner beans and lettuce. The ground is not entirely cleared yet but we're usually putting things into the ground long before this. It's great when you're planting rather than turning, raking and weeding.

I've spent a lot of time at the allotment this week-end. There wasn't another soul there yesterday, well I did see someone fleetingly many plots away, but today it was a busy place and plotters were in very good form as the weather is looking likely to improve. Yippee!!!

I planted giant basil, peas, rocket and nasturtiums. For the first time ever my gooseberry bush has tiny wee berries appearing and my next door neighbour plotter gave me a present of some prize winning leeks. :)

I think I'll have to give the allotment up. I can't cope with the long, dreich winters and then weeks of rainy summer. Instead of getting pleasure from vegetables, fruit and flowers growing, you're watching them die or not appear at all - how come the weeds just seem to thrive all the more? It wears you out.

We said a sad farewell to the allotment today. It's been such a struggle this year with little pleasure to be gained. After being sick in the summer and the rain that hardly stopped, it became too big a trial keeping the plot looking good and bringing home any bounty. I'll just grow more vegetables, berries and herbs on the verandah. But sad! :(

It wasn't a gardener's year, Pat. Good luck with the verandah. Is it not a bit windy?
