Sunday at 12: John's Week with John Collings. A new programme for the autumn season starts with a look at Glasgow St Enoch's Square and the surrounding area. Where did it get its name? What used to be there before the shopping centre and where did the St Enoch railway station go to? St Enoch was the mother of St Mungo who founded Glasgow, so this seems a really good place to start a series about Glasgow and district.

That's followed at 1 by The Wee Bit on the Side. Singer-songwriter Karine Polwart offers us a touring folkie’s peek at life on the road with her pick of songs and music inspired by the people and places she meets on the way, and interviews with familiar and new voices from The Far Flung Corners of Folkdom. This first programme comes to you from Easdale Island.
Then, at 13:30 The Clubhouse. Paddy Bort’s monthly round-up of what’s on at Scottish folk clubs – the discerning ‘Clubber’s Guide’ as it were. Both Garden Sessions productions.

At 5pm, Ciaran Dorris Sunday Session guests are Patrick Bullen and Vivien Scotson, both making a return visit, but this time as a duo to bring us all up to date about how their musical collaboration is going.

At 7pm, Mary K. Burke Show with music, chat and guests and this week with Linda Harrnett. A complex character and a romantic at heart but also a realist, Linda is a Spiritual Healer and Reiki Master, poet and photographer. Linda is currently writing a book
Link to her poetry websites at: http://www.poetrypoem.com/healinghands

Through her love of poetry she met Saltcoats musician, Ed Walker and together they worked on The Betsy Miller Project which is a collaboration of music and poetry telling the story of Captain Betsy Miller, the World’s First Woman Sea Captain. This resulted in the release of The Betsy Miller CD which received favourable media and government interest. The Betsy story is ongoing with much work being carried out behind the scenes to have Betsy's name elevated to its rightful place in Scottish History. Link: http://www.betsymiller.net

Mary will also have Dublin born singer songwriter Peader de Barra now based in Glasgow. Peadar wrote the song Four Leaf Clover with his buddy Peter Devers in 1997 to celebrate Celtic FC winning the league. The song is still played at each and every home game and even got an airing at Hampden Park after the League Cup Final last April.

At 8pm on Tuesday, Travels with My Auntie Liz – Liz Clark In conversation with the internationally renowned fiddler Alasdair Fraser and Cellist Natalie Hass after their gig at Fruitmarket Folk on Wednesday 16 September 2009. There is a focus on the ethos of ‘The Village’ an embryonic venture started over 25 years ago with Valley of The Moon Fiddle camp, the Skye Summer School plus numerous workshop weekends to the Sierra Fiddle Camp in California founded in 2006 to all musical meetings along the way!

Liz is also in conversation with Dr John Barrow of the Stonyport Agency which was recently awarded the Hamish Henderson Services to Traditional Music. Liz gets John’s views on ‘the agents’ situation in Scotland at the moment and opportunities that can be out there to who he considers we should be looking at in the emerging artist field.

And ofcourse ‘the interview ‘ with the world renowned sex symbol and single man of Four Men and A Dog - Mr Gino Lupari. Liz had to stand in line for seven hours to get an interview with this charismatic and much sought after man. Fighting her way through his entourage of adoring female fans, Liz barely escaped with her life and she had to be smuggled out the back door; yep the bar was busy! Brilliantly modest talented man who brings in a big ray of sunshine into the world of traditional music.

To contact Liz email liz@celticmusicradio.net

News this week of several new features in the late-night 10.00-midnight slot.

First of all, congratulations to Sandy from Kilbarchan, one of our regular listeners, who won the raffle at the Eliza Carthy gig. His prize was the opportunity to produce and present a show.

It went out this morning, live, from 10.00-12.00. Excellent music choice, decent listener numbers, plenty of emails to the studio, and it was good to hear him refer to "guisin'" rather than "trick or treat"! Well done!

On now - Saturday 12 noon - Ross talks to Aly Macrae about that ‘Kilt Song’ and his new album Popstardombeckons. Aly is an Ayrshire-born singer and writer of alt.folk songs about everything from charity shops to beer. http://www.myspace.com/alymacrae

At 3pm (also 6pm Monday) our Album of the Week is from Show of Hands. Ross talks to Steve and Phil about Arrogance, Ignorance & Greed.
http://www.showofhands.co.uk/

On Sunday at 5, Danny Matheson sits in for Ciaran on the Sunday Session.

Danny's also back at 10pm on Monday:

"Late Night with Danny Matheson and his Celtic Ceilidh". Danny launches the first of our late night programmes featuring all Scottish artists from traditional Scottish folk song and Scottish Country Dance music. Plus a birthday celebration feature.

Claire Snedden from Glasgow Concert Halls will be joining Mark Sheridan at 4pm on Tuesday, with a preview of coming concerts and events during November, and a look forward to Celtic Connections 2010.

You can hear this programme at 9am on Saturday, also at 9pm Sunday and 6pm Monday. You can also hear tracks from the album throughout the week.

They'll be broadcasting from 10am until 6pm. We've then got 2 hours of Mike Marwick (live from Fife!) and 2 hours of Bill Black from the studio.

On Sunday afternoon, Stewart Fenwick speaks with Colm Kirwan about next week's Nashville Singer Songwriters show at The Ferry here in Glasgow and feature the new album from John Fogerty. Plus our new 3@3 spot features the headliners from this weekend's Craig Tara Country Festival in Ayr.

Danny Matheson deps for Ciaran again at 5pm, and he's joined by long-time Celtic Connections supporter Derek Moore from Elderslie, Renfrewshire who also runs the Kelburn Brewery in Barrhead.

At 7, Mary K Burke's guests are BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners Jack McNeil and Charlie Heys from Carlisle, and Sammy Horner and Paul Baird will also be in the studio to speak about the reforming of The Electrics.

You can hear the "Tattie Jam" programme again at 9pm.

Don't forget we've now got 10-midnight late-night shows on Monday (Danny Matheson) and Tuesday (Paul Hughes).
