It's 'Rise' by Andy Scott. Allegedly based on the Greek goddess of the horse, and also a tribute to 'Kentigern', which the oldsters amongst you might remember from Buchanan Street.

You'll probably recognise more of Scott's work than you might think.

Thanks, nwe, my favourite is The Heavy Horse. I love that stretch coming back from Edinburgh on the M8 when you see that gorgeous wee church and then a bit along the road the sculpture. Very dramatic - especially on a frosty winter's evening.

I see what you mean about Kentigern. The wings though remind me of a ships propellers. You are right about his other works, quite surprising.

Good grief thats going to frighten the locals walking down Maryhill road of a late evening.


I had an old uncle once yoinks ago who lived in the Butney he got drunk and fell down the Brae his pal told him to sue the corporation because he fell... whilst drunk. He sued them for falling down drunk and got a pile of money and went out and got drunk ! ............then he fell ........naw B)
