tam 0
Last Thursday: Bridge was unbelievable: twenty hands with at least three baby slams, two five bids and a few fours. My partners were fantastic....baith the playing and bidding. Went doon once and ah'll no tell yees wha wis at fault......ridiculous tae go doon at two diamonds when the numptie had three guid herts oan the board,aw the trump gone and came back tae his ain hand afore throwin his losers oan the guid herts, Efter the bridge a chick drove the pair of us tae get the H1N1 shot. She had taken her drivers written test, passed but was a bit miffed because she hastae dae the written test every two years and she wullnae be ninety-three until the new year. Last night went tae a meeting. A wee group which disnae follay the same procedures that my auld hame group does and i thought quite highly of the differences; sortae imagine this wid have been the way the auld timers wid have proceeded. I dae have messages tae answer and am gonnae get at it.....it's no a chore, it's jist am a wee bit busy and some oh the messages need a bit of a think, which isnae one of my strengths....so, efter the holidays...mind if i have the same guid fortune as Gladtae, the messages wull need tae wait, mibee until the spring. tam
tam 0
And afore i forget: a few days past and am oan the main drag....jist wanderin. I see a man comin toward me and he has a big dug, oan a leash. the weather is a bit below chilly; the dug seems tae be fair enjoyin himsel. He is back and forth, sniffin aw the spots that wur likely visited by the lady dugs and every once in a while he stops and brushes himsel against the man's legs, who disnae stop but keeps sauterin along. Am waitin until they are near and i says tae the man, "dae ye mind if i say hello tae yur dug", "no", he says, "he disnae bite....a bit of a suck, really, loves everybody". Well am pettin the dug and he seems quite happy. Then i says tae the man, "an unusual mix, looks like a lot of poodle, though mibee too big". The man smiles and says, "French Standard Poodle and Labrador retriever"....the dug was pure white and the coat was all poodle. I didnae ask but my feeling is that the mix wasnae intention. tam

maggs 0
I like the name, think it's cute but I suppose the Lab bit of the dug might find it a bit poncy. Happy to hear you so settled Tam, ah see you're going for the older woman now.

peony 0
Poodles are remarkably smart, as are labs. Labs tend to be couch potatoes and poodles are a little to bouncy for me. The cross is a pretty darned good one. I will only ever have rescue dogs, but I would rescue a labradoodle. I'd just say it was a lab cross breed, not a labradoodle. Why not call them an entirely new name.

tam 0
I have nae problem we dugs thit urna purebred, for the maist part. Whits happenin here is that folk are gettin intae the business of "NEW" breeds and the poor animals seem lost. The worst is probably the miniature Dobbies: poor wee buggers are maistly frightened of everythin. The Greyhounds are awfy sad. The dugs seem tae have nae normal dug responses left. A man in the auld neighbourhood had three frae Florida and he wid walk them aroond the park, everyday. They didnae want tae run; jist amble along with interest in nothin. I havnae heard a Greyhound growl or bark since i was aboot seven...visited Uncle Charlie who had a Greyhound with a litter of pups: she gave ample warnin that ye wurnae to go near her offspring....cept for Uncle Charlie. A few years back i met a woman wha had a rescue dug; it was abandoned in the bush and that happens tae a lot of dugs that dinnae retieve like a machine. Her dug was a beaut and i ustae hide mahsel until she goat very close....i wis sore afraid that the dug wid pull the lady over. tam I had a very quite skate, today....am no kiddin, these skates are unbelievably comfortable....ah went back tae the shop the day and telt the man. patti 0
I had a toy poodle when I was a wee lassie (no poncy haircut either) and a more intelligent, loving and even tempered dog you'd ever find! I had to take her to Windsor Terrace PDSA at the end and I'll never forget her .....................oh god I'm away

tam 0
Iona: That isnae quite the same. The ones here are no much bigger than a chiuwowwow (obvious mah spellin needs remedial classes) and they are exact, even doon tae getting the ears cut. And like yursel i had a poodle, near twenty when she died. The poodle was Sasha and she was follayed by the "Auld dug" another hert stealer and the "Auld dug" had been abused. When the "Auld dug" moved oan, I was the recipient and caretaker of some PMs thit wid be difficult tae replicate: bring a tear tae yur ee, so they wid....no mine, because am ah nacho frae Perth. tam The "Auld dug" doted oan her mistress but when the mistress wasnae aroond she gave me mair attention than i deserved....bloody grandson must be peelin onions. Happy belated birthday, Pat, same day as mah Mums.
gladtobeglas 0
A bright and fresh morning here with lots of crunchy snow underfoot. It makes such a difference having the snow on the ground and it's such a shame that it soon gets churned up and slushy. Hoping for a white Christmas here.
tam 0
My very recent reading has included two (mibee three) posts by Gladtae and i dae thank him for being here. Pat annaw for the site. Nae idea how many mods there are but Rolo must be worth her weight in gold, and sae guid tae see her get a bit miffed, at times. My guess is that we all have favourites, folk that post who must be read. I have a lot of those. We certainly dae have quiet times oan here and jist when those times start tae get really irritatin, somebody wull post an interestin comment. I mind last year when Hampsterbert posted a douzie and this year there have been far too many to single one out. Ganster's Moll has been very entertainin and mair than one person have engaged her in wonderful bouts of repartee. Plus Iona, who seems warm as toast. A lot of posts i wished i had done but none as much as the wee story submitted by HH.....and the passing of time has not diminished it's lustre, one iota.....and he isnae too bad we a camera. Generally speaking, the internet has allowed me tae meet some pretty guid folk thit i enjoy keeping in touch with...the return of the lassie frae Stoney Creek is an example, mair than one in Glesgae, a charmer in Texas, my past clogging teacher (am gonnae dae a post aboot her because she is someone all of yees wid love) AND a man frae Dumbarton...JJ....and the very precious Fey (and Gus). AND i cannae be maudlin withoot mentionin thon erse Clash...he is an erse but a keeper if there ever was one. tam absolutely love my skates....and the weather isnae really cold enough for an outdoor rink. Mibee this coming spring am gonnae go tae the chip and beg a glasgowwestend wooman tae tell me aboot the dark ages.
