Atta boy, Notta. I've no got a clue what's going on in this thread but it's certainly wandered away from the topic. No even a good night in.

Oz, if I remember correctly, Morar was among the world's top beaches as identified by The Observor.

Sunsets over Eigg & Rhum with a double Scotch in your hand are unbeatable when seen from Bar of Morar Hotel.

One thing we dont get here is sunsets over the sea

The Glasgow steamers were something else. They had their own bakers, their own china, embroidered napery, hallmarked silverware, lovely tearooms on board....

Jings; what could be nicer?

The west coast has lost so, so much. Have said it before, will say it again: if I ruled the world, everybody would be under orders to make a pilgrimage for a trip on the Waverley roond aboot the isalnds at least once in their life.

And obligatory free trips several times a year for Glaswegians.

View I grew up looking at. Sigh.

I think we all deserve a sail doon the Clyde. How about a Waverley swally? We can take loads o' photies for Oz, Peony, KK, Weekie, tam 'n' the gang?

In the meantime, I know this can't really compete with the lovely sights on here but sunsets make a rare spectacle - even in Anniesland:

That Arran Westie?

Sure is. The unmistakeable Sleeping Warrior.

Sigh. I love that view. It's hardwired into my brain.

Great pic!! Where is it?

Ardrossan. My old home toon.

Used to be a great wee place. Some of my dad's family had a farm in the hills at the back of Ardrossan, and grew Ayrshire tatties. My dad and his brother both remember going down to the shore with carts to bring home seaweed that got spread on the fields. Needless to say, nobody does it that way any more. And Ayrshire tatties these days don't taste anything like the way I remember them.

And Ardrossan is very much not what it was. The 80s did for it; killed it stone dead.
