Longhorns are long, rangy animals. They are fleet of foot and used to give a horse a good run. They are the cattle that were on all the old time cattle drives. Wild cattle - not the herefords and so on that are shown in movies.

This is an historical picture of longhorns in Texas. You can see that they have very long bodies.

Thanks Peony. Ceba is in the bad books tonight as she somehow managed to get into a basket I thought I had left up high enough and has totally ripped to shreds all the girls' swimming things. Sigh. Gonna be tricky finding swimming costumes in time for weekend swimming lessons this time of year...Mental note to self for the future - if in doubt then yes she probably can figure out a way to get something she is not supposed to have!

Lucky she's cute.

Another thing that's fun with cats is those wee old bubble-blowing things - you know, basically a bit of soapy water and a sort of plastic lollipop with no centre - and you get to sit down all peaceful and lazy and watch the cat go mad punching all the bubbles to death. "Naw, the bubbles must not invade my house! ˇNo pasarán! Oi, how did that one vanish even before I thumped it? Can't stop to think, got too many other bubbles to deal with. Oh the stress of it all and I can't even trust that lazy biped to help ..... ... oh I punch, yet they keep on coming .... ". Meanwhile you and your friends can open some beer and wine and stuff and giggle.

...and then have to clean up the pile of later cat sick - on account of the damn critter lickin and lickin and lickin itself whilst covered in burst soapy bubbles.....

Oh, I love that dog warning sign one. I wonder if such signs exist in the real world. I'd buy one. Some people I know with a big young collie/lab cross whose enthusiasm, I suspect, tends to exceed her intelligence, could probably use one of those.

No, no, don't be daft, that is NOT how it works. Obviously cat makes sure the dead bubble stuff lands in the human's dinner, or on the new silk shirt, or on the letter you are going to post ..... :D

Is there nothing worse than the smell of stinky wet dogs? They smell like 2 wet footy socks that have been left in a dank sportsbag for a week. Nice.

I might have told this story. I adopted a puppy from someone. They had a boxful of puppies at the local market and were sitting outside trying to find homes. Anyway, I took one. I went straight to the new vet in town who wasn't getting much business yet. When I took my puppy into the exam room, the vet picked up the puppy held it up to his face and said: "I love puppy breath."

I knew he would be a good vet and he was for many years for me until I moved away.

puppy breath! Gorgeous. Ceba still does her puppy yawn - she squeaks when she does a big yawn. I wish I could capture it on video it is the cutest thing. She was very stinky yesterday as she had a great time flinging herself into the creek after a stick about 10 times. Billy just watched - he's not into exerting himself too much. We have had quite a bit of rain lately but the creek isn't exactly flowing so it's a bit on the stagnant side...

My mum's dog, Jet, loved nothing better than a swim in the canal. When she came out she would be very stinky and looked a bit frightening as she would be covered in algae.
