Songs to Greet to.

Recommended Posts

Nothing tae add, jist a couple of thoughts:

The nae mair bolero, KK ah think. See bolero and ay think of George Raft. The instrumental lead in tae the singer is really, really guid.

George daein "He Stopped Lovin Her To-Day" must have had a big crossover sale, even thais that hate country wid havetae like thon. The guitar player right behind George, ahm wondering if that could be David Frizzel. And am no sure if David wid be a son or grandson of Lefty.

Did Maggs dae the Righteous Brothers ? Ah tremendous memory kicker and ay always thought that it was an awfy shame thit they cuidnae get a-long with each ither. Mind the Everly Brothers wur known tae fight oan stage but they still managed tae dae many recordings.

And a merci tae someone for the "Seekers". No too well known tae mahsel and ay was appreciating thon young lassies voice. See the bass player, he's wearing Frankie Laine specs.

If me missing the Seekers surprises yees, ay also missed maist of Dylan, "The Band", Leonard Cohen and a whole lot mair.

Ay hope youse lot dinnae neglect tae occassionaly adding tae this thread.

But do you know who wrote it, Pat?

Well, I know it wasn't Rod Stewart.

The very first time i heard this song, it was sung by a male. Am no sure but he may have been a part of a brother team that did country and western. This wid have been before Bette Midler did the movie. I cannae find anything oan google but it widnae come as a surprise if a woman in Texas knew wha ay was talking aboot.

Lee Greenwood. By far the best recording of that song, though much of the rest of his output is execrable.

Perry Como has also recorded it, as has Willie Nelson; and Roger Whittaker released it as a single.
