Who remembers old-fashioned Cream Soda?

Well, folks, seems that B*rrs can't make enough of the stuff to supply demand, it's the trendy drink of the moment!

There's a family do next week and it's top of the drinks list for the trendy young generation of party-goers. BLESS!

I have been in FOUR shops the day only to find them all sold out, whilst copious supplies of Irn B, Limeade and Lemonade in full stock everywhere.

Pssst, wanna buy some Cream Soda? Our local L*ndis came to the rescue, having just taken delivery of a consignment which was yet to reach the shelves. Into the back shop they willingly went and returned with several bottles of same but don't tell anyone I told you or they'll have to call in R*cksteady.

 :o

A scoop of ice cream at the bottom of a tall glass, fill to the brim with American Cream Soda, and it would still be near the top of my favourite drinks list regardless of trendiness or otherwise.

O yes, nwe. Brings back memories. Long, hot summers and yer mammy calling you in for a cool drink. MMMmmm, delish. Remember picnics, wi yur pieces wrapped in bread wrapping paper, creamola foam drinks n rhubarb wi sugar in a newspaper cone. Jooblys * and maybe just maybe, cornish ice cream n wafers or a rectangular cone.

Seltzer + vanilla extract + caramel colouring = cream soda.

Why does it have to be American cream soda?...serious question.

It was sold as American cream soda. Maybe they thought that would encourage sales as post 2nd world war there seemed to be a belief in all things American being special, superior and very modern and attractive. Remember most of Britain was still living in extremely adverse circumstances re rations etc until the middle 50`s and the Americans seemed glamorous etc.

as sold by the gallon in the now vanished Grosvenor Cafe. You could get a scoop of ice cream and either cream soda or Irn Bru.

It ain't any more. It's been re-branded. Just plain Cream Soda now.
