Thought it would be good to kick off with something funny at first, before i degenerate into just thinking i'm funny.

I'm not officially a westender but i'm finding myself spend more and more time there.

Welcome, Scenester. A mighty handy tip there.

Are you the same bloke that's doing the Associates Tribute Night somebody just tipped me off about? Maybe not, but if so, gonnae post details on the What's On thread?

(Or just PM me, if you prefer)

First saw Billy, Alan and Co at the (original) Bungalow Bar back in 1980 (ish). Me and some fellow (former) scenesters pitched up to see the Delmontes and were totally, utterly and completely blown away by the then unknown support band. We were all stood at the bar, waiting for the headliners and then.......sublime rock'n'roll moment. THAT VOICE. Totally unexpected.

Jaws literally dropped.

Pint-carrying hands froze half-way to mouths.

Hairs stood up on back of necks, arms etc. It's happening now, just thinking about it, 25 years on....(gulp!)

Ach, Billy

never eat yellow snow..............i'll get ma coat

Apparently that comes from the fact that hallucinogens aren't used up in the body and pass right through you and out in your urine. Apparently some far northen countries had equivalents to shamen/ witch doctors/ healing men (or women) who'd eat fungi (magic mushees!!) to induce trance-like states. So if you ate yellow snow you'd be likely to end up 'tripping'. Also possible to be the source of the phrase 'pissed'.

So I heard.

tam, I'm not sniggering at all. However, I had to google Georgina Spelvin so now know that 'she epitomised the era of porn chic'. I missed that whole era. You on the otherhand obviously did not!!!

Anyway, nobody has put up a tip since Scenester last posted in 2006 so well done. Did you see his tip and the effects of yellow snow? I know you are having your largest snowfalls for thirty years but I hope you will not be tempted.

Pat,

we should really stop meeting like this. On the other hand these out of the way, forgotten byways ur mibee better than the regular haunts.

Oanyway: Ay did miss a lot of that stuff and much as ay hate tae admit: ay never saw Deep Throat, or the Devil and Miss Jones (am no sure if that is the correct title but it starred Georgina) there was something else but ay cannae remember.

BUT:- Georgina: Ay read a lengthy interview, which she had. One of the questions asked how she got started......she was actually very keen on getting work in the regular movies. Not as an actress but anything to do with production. To learn as much as she could, she willingly did almost anything,

OK, totally off topic there, Tam. Rest of your post's been deleted.

Please remember this is a public forum, thanks

Rolo

Tam, when you open the program it shows a calendar at the bottom left. Select the month you want then click on the date. You then double click on the calendar on your right on the date and at time of appointment. An orange box will come up and you type your information in that.

If any problems then p.m.

More handy tips and hints; <you know what?... I'll DRAG this back on topic or die trying>

Vegetarians coming to dinner? Simply serve them a nice bit of steak or veal. Since they're always going on about how tofu, Quorn, meat substitute etc 'tastes exactly like the real thing', they won't know the difference.

Invited by vegetarians for dinner? Point out that since you'd no doubt be made aware of their special dietary requirements, tell them about yours, and ask for a nice steak.

Remember ...

when the sign by the escalator says:

"Babies Must Be Carried On The Escalator"

do not get onto the escalator until someone has placed at least two babies in your arms.

Bother getting up in the morning? A mouse trap placed on top on of your alarm clock will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep.

Hate your neighbours? Fool next door into thinking you have more stairs than them by banging your feet twice on each stair.

Save yer auld tellyfone directories, coz they make ideel persnull address books. Simply cross oot the names an' addresses o' the peepul ye don't know.

Ach, Viz, eh?

One of the last bastions of humour left in this PC-ridden country. Classic stuff.

Rolo....Rolo....Rolo:-

Seein as you have a mac........I have a number of e-mail addresses which are not in my address book. Until quite recently I have never had a problem, jist start the person's name and the machine did the rest. Noo it disnae and ay've nae idea why. One, a person on the site and the ithur a daughter-in-law, seem tae have vanished. I do, periodically, empty the cache but that has never had an adverse effect in the past...it jist makes me sign in tae favoured sites.

Ignore the above:

I know what i did. On the mac mail and i opened the window for "previous". It seemed like a lotta space tae use so decided tae remove some of the e-mails; big mistake. It isnae a list of e-mails sent, it's a list of recipient addressses.

tam

see whit happens when ye gie these silly auld idjits entre tae places unknown.

I've made the same mistake maself, Tam.

I do the failsafe thing now; whenever you get a message from someone not already in your address book, click Message on your toolbar then Add Sender to Address Book.

Only if you think you're ever gonna want to talk to em again, of course...;)
