Tom"ar"To 0
This isn't a story in the proper sense it's more of an idea for a story that I thought about this morning as I was going to meet my work coach. Given the fact that planet earth is sadly inhabited by people that gradually bringing it to close to environmental ruin, I just wonder how the planet would show its feelings if that was possible? Humans tend to respond to physical pain and injury by crying but how would the earth respond to what humans are doing to it? My immediate thoughts are it would cry, bawl, weep, in such a way that would hopefully make people change their ways and start being more thoughtful and considerate and if that failed then threaten to restrain the ecosystem until we learn to stop taking it for granted. That sounds harsh, even cruel but how long can people carry on taking planet earth and its ecosystem for granted and bring them close to ruin? Anyway I'd love to know what you think please share your thoughts. Thanks.
Pat 0
Sounds like a great idea. Made me think that all the storms, hurricanes and tsunami we've seen in recent years could have been the result of the planet deciding that the world needs a bit of a shake. Go for it. Brian Mcculloch Glasgow 0
Quite an interesting topic of discussion I must say. I would say that in order to stop the havoc that we are causing to mother earth maybe, she would respond someday with an event that would be disastrous to a vast population of people living in certain areas. She might think that its time to teach these creatures some lesson and boom...fury unleashed.
Pat 0
I think we see disastrous events in certain areas over and over, Brian – tsunami, earthquakes and at the moment devastating fires in California.

Thanks, Pat, I'm really touched that you think that what I wrote is a good idea. I still believe that people, in general, ill-treat the planet and if the earth could cry it would be weeping perhaps more than ever given the problems with pollution for example. Pat 0
The planet is certainly taking a hammering. More should be done to drive ahead utilising the 'green' resources.

I agree 100%, Pat and I wonder how long (if ever) will it take to bring about a much-needed change to the way humans treat the planet and its precious resources? I can't see it taking place in my generation (i'm 51) even though here in London there is a ''slow'' push towards electric cars in order to deal with the pollution from diesel cars. What is it like in Glasgow Pat? Are people concerned about pollution etc and if yes what are they doing to change things? I really believe that the two main culprits are big business and the governments because they seem to be focused on profit at any cost and that is what has led to our planet being threatened by man-made pollution. It's a sad fact of life in the 21st century. One more thing Pat, have you noticed how the thoughtful caring people always seem to be in the minority whereas the uncaring reckless people tend to everywhere ( especially in business and government)? The imbalance is concerning Pat.
Pat 0
Not sure about Glasgow but Scottish Government certainly in the forefront in the UK with regard to tackling climate change. World leader in generating electricity from renewables. But Green Party always driving for better performance. I think most businesses, encouraged by the Tory Government see their goal as profit at all costs. Makes me sick everytime I hear these boasts of full employment when we know so many are on zero hours contracts and low wages.
