Glasgow 1967: The Lisbon Lions

Recommended Posts

I loved this documentary. Historic occasion for Glasgow, Scotland and International Football. Very well made documentary with all the thrills of the big win but also including great insight into the lives of the football legends. Very poignant seeing the captain Billy McNeill lifting the trophy, given his current struggle with alzheimers. The attitudes, the patter are great fun and the recent interviews truly capture the spirit of Glasgow, the magnificence of Jock Stein and his lions and just what an amazing story this was.  I'll be watching it again.

It was absolutely wonderful, perfect with its cameos of real fans and their journey.  Laughed at the antics of fans having to 'dreepy' from the aircraft because the guys who brings the stairs had gone home.  Bertie Auld's pretend mugging of Bobby Lennox.  Then the tears never stopped that last ten minutes.

Truly a great piece of work.

It was a very well done documentary. The players were probably happier than those of today even though they did have the big earnings.
