The Yorkhill Ball

Friday, March 15, 2013

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us to at the second annual Yorkhill Ball from 7pm on Friday 15 March 2013 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Glasgow.

As well as being a formal black tie dinner, this year's Yorkhill Ball, hosted by Des Clarke, will recreate the glitz and glamour of fabulous Las Vegas and the 1960s era made famous by the Rat Pack featuring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Junior.

Following a four-course meal, the fantastic Frank Holden will take the stage and get you onto the dance floor with his 15-piece Big Band to recreate the music of Frank Sinatra. Billed as one of the best Sinatra tributes in the UK, Frank and his band will be sure to get you out of your seats and singing along to classic Rat Pack songs such as "Fly Me To The Moon" and "New York New York".

The fun of Las Vegas will come alive with our fun casino tables. We will also have an auction with a wealth of fantastic money-can't-buy prizes, an amazing prize draw and plenty more surprises. At the end of the evening, you will go away with your very own goody bag!

Tables of 10/12 are £1000/£1200 or individual tickets are £100 each and all proceeds from the event will go to Yorkhill Children's Foundation and will help to support sick children and babies from all over Scotland and beyond.

Sunday, March 31, 2013

The Yorkhill Easter Egg Run takes place every Easter Sunday and it's no different for 2013 - with the big day being Sunday 31st March starting at 11am. We're looking forward to welcoming thousands of motorbikes, trikes and scooters to Yorkhill Hospital for this event.

Please meet at YORKHILL HOSPITAL from 11am for a 12pm noon departure. The route goes from Yorkhill, up Sauchiehall Street, Woodlands Road,

Great Western Road, Crow Road, Rosevale Street, Benalder Street and back to Yorkhill. Entertainment will be on hand from Radio Lollipop and there will be plenty to eat and drink for all the participants.

This year, we are asking for a suggested donation of £5 per bike which will be collected on arrival at the hospital. Please consider making a donation this year rather than an Easter Egg as the hospital is inundated with chocolate at Easter and many of our patients are on special diets or nil by mouth and can't enjoy the eggs. Financial donations mean that we can provide specialised medical equipment and other resources essential for the care of the children at Yorkhill.

If you require sponsor forms, posters or any other fundraising materials, please call the Yorkhill Children's Foundation office on 0141 201 6917. For all the up to date information on this event, please keep an eye on the event page on our Facebook

Sunday, April 21, 2013

As one of the six official charities of The Kiltwalk in 2013, Yorkhill Children's Foundation will receive a share of the proceeds from the Hampden to Loch Lomond event.

Led by Scotland manager and long time Kiltwalk supporter Craig Levein, participants will be piped from Hampden Park to the Clyde and onwards along the walkways to Loch Lomond Shores.

There will be refreshments, live music and pipers throughout the walk. And in the evening you can enjoy some well-deserved entertainment with your fellow walkers.

The exciting event takes place on Sunday 21st April 2013 and there are various walks you can take part in.

Full Walk, 26 miles: This walk is the most challenging but you're rewarded by starting behind the goal at Hampden.

Half Walk, 13 miles: Not ready to face the full Kiltwalk just yet? Join in the excitement from the half- way point at Bowling Harbour!

Wee Walk, 10km: Walk around the beautiful Balloch Castle Country Park with the whole family!

You can either enter the walk by yourself but why not rally your friends together and take part as a team.

Money raised from the Hampden to Loch Lomond Kiltwalk will be split between five of Scotland's best loved children's charities: Yorkhill Children's Foundation, Aberlour, CHAS, CLIC Sargent and TACC.
