DAVID KING + KARL ESPRIT
AUG 29TH
David has been playing guitar since he was 8 although he started taking it to the next level when he started going to gigs at Glasgow's legendary venue The Apollo in the early eighties witnessing guitar hero's galore including Alex Lifeson and Angus Young. David has consumed all things guitar ever since including the Jazz genius of Martin Taylor and Pat Metheny and effects influenced players such as The Edge and Andy Summers and the acoustic work of Acoustic Alchemy. Having exhausted all possibilities in various bands he returned to his home studio and gained a degree in Media Music Composition recognised by the Film Music Institute of Los Angeles. He is currently working on his debut album of instrumental guitar influenced by all the styles mentioned above which will result in a truly unique sound.
TATTIE JAM (Ruaridh Pringle & Seylan Baxter)
SEPT 6TH
Tattie Jam ingredients: Spicy instrumentals, song content not less than 50%, recipe for modern tastes using original and traditional Scottish ingredients. Traditional and folk with a twist! Ruaridh's distinctive and versatile guitar picking and clear voice compliment Seylan's expressive vocals and fluid cello in exciting arrangements of humorous and pithy new songs, funky dance tunes, keening slow airs and haunting old ballads. Seylan's 5-string electric bass gives their music a wonderful rich sound yet has the range to play surprising jigs and reels. Their music expresses the heart and soul of traditional and folk music in exciting and unusual ways. These wildly different personalities and musical tastes combine to give a very full sound for a duo. Both Ruaridh and Seylan sing and play lead instruments at the same time effectively doubling the sound to fill the room as if it were a 4 piece band. Twice the bang for your buck!
DAVID VINER + ORESTE GARGARO + JIM BYRNE
SEPT 16TH
Think Nick Drake having a session with Leon Redbone and Son House and you come up with something close to Mr. David Viner. Thoroughly schooled in the blues, folk, and acoustic pop, Mr. Viner has been toiling away in the United Kingdom, though he did have his first record made in Detroit during the craze there in 2003. Friend of the now defunct Soledad Brothers, Mr. Viner is still in with a class of musicians that have kept the spirit of old Rock N Roll, blues, and folk alive.

ANGIE PALMER + ANNA MELDRUM + EVE BULLOCH
SEPT 28TH
At seventeen Angie left England for Europe to follow in the footsteps of folk troubadours like Dylan, ending up in Paris for seven years busking a living playing bars, cinema queues and the Metro. A twist of fate led her to meet her writing partner, Paul Mason, a philosopher from Manchester Metropolitan University in a Cafe Philosophique and together they returned to England. Back in the U.K. Angie's third CD Road gained 4 and 5 star reviews and earned her comparisons with Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell thanks to lyrics described by reviewers as "intelligent" and "literate". For others her potent mix of country, blues, and folk served up with equal measures of aggression and tenderness has led her to called the "British Lucinda Williams". Road made it on to the long short list for the Mercury Prize in 2004 and Angie's music is being championed by Bob Harris amongst others and has featured on film soundtracks in both England and France.
BRIGID KAELIN + LOU HICKEY + ALI MOODIE
OCT 18TH
Known for her clever songwriting and energetic live show, Brigid Kaelin is also a seriously trained musician. You may come to the show for her red hair, and you may laugh at the yodeling. But then you'll be completely amazed by her virtuosic chops on the accordion, piano, guitar, and musical saw, and suddenly you'll realize that you love her songs too. Part vaudeville, part rock, Kaelin writes killer songs and knows how to entertain.
Kaelin is also a top-notch session musician and a sought-after utility player. She loves touring in other people's bands and playing her own music along the way. And when she's in charge of the microphone, the whole room listens.
