"In the light of the connection with landmines a walk to Clydebank, with its Blitz associations, would seem to be the best idea for 14th May."

We meet at the Stewart Fountain in Kelvingrove Park, we take the Kelvin Walkway to the Kelvin Aqueduct at Maryhill and gain the canal towpath, which takes us direct to Clydebank. This is 9-10 miles and would take about 4 hours. There would be opportunities for anyone tiring to get transport back to Glasgow at various points, and the opportunity of going on the Bowling where the canal ends delightfully at Bowling basin (transport back also available there), another 3 miles, would exist for the Amazons amongst your group.

For those who are interested I will be able to provide an historical background of the areas we pass through.

I assume the the walkers will be stoutly shod and have waterproofs-though the hope is for a good day. It might also be an idea for them to have flasks and sandwiches, there will be stops along the way.

In the evening I would hope to be able to extend an invitation to you have a chat on Glasgow.

Justice and peace,
Chair United Nations Association Scotland

Hon President; The Rt. Hon. The Lord Provost of Glasgow, Robert Winter
