Uber Girl Scotland 2009 Final

Uber Girl Scotland 2009 Final will no longer take place at the Old Fruitmarket on 8th August, but will be held in the Corinthian on 4th September instead. Tickets for the rescheduled event are available from Ticketweb.

Ten girls who have made it though weeks of public voting will compete to take the Uber Girl crown. The girls will take part in various rounds to impress the panel of 5 celebrity judges headed by MTV and Celebrity Love Island star Calum Best.

The event will be hosted by Clyde 1's Suzie McGuire and Romeo with live performances from Booty Luv and much more still to be announced.

Over 2500 girls applied to become Uber Girl Scotland 2009, but only one girl can win the fantastic prize of a one year modelling contract, £10,000 cash, a holiday, photo shoot and to be featured in the 2010 Uber Girl Scotland Calendar.

Piping Live! - The International Quartet Competition

With their national pride at stake, quartets from around the world have taken up the challenge to see who will become the International Quartet Champions.

See the ScottishPower Pipe Band return to try to retain their 2008 title. Their international opposition includes the Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band, St Laurence O'Toole Pipe Band, Manawatu Scottish, and World Champions Simon Fraser University Pipe Band who want to retain their crown.

A truly world class act returns to the stage with Affirmation to entertain at the annual pre-Worlds concert, promoted and hosted by the Phoenix Honda Glasgow Skye Pipe Band.

The Simon Fraser University Pipe Band of Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada has become a respected institution in the community and has brought fame to BC with its capture of national and international prizes. Five times World Champions and the current World Pipe Band and World Drum Corps Champions, the band consists of a talented core of over forty players, led by Pipe Major Terry Lee and lead drummer J. Reid Maxwell.

Affirmation presents an opportunity to hear one of the world's greatest pipe bands entertain and thrill the audience with a performance of new, traditional and favourite compositions.

Supported by special guests Wolfstone, whose unique style of traditional music will add an exciting dimension to this popular pre-Worlds pipe band concert.

Piping Live! - Pipes and Strings

This will be a wonderful evening of traditional Scottish music dedicated to the fiddle and the bagpipes.

The evening will include band, duet and solo performances and will showcase these instruments in both a traditional and contemporary way. Gordon Walker, the Glenfiddich Solo Piping Champion and Raemond Jappy, the Glenfiddich Solo Fiddle Champion, will both play recitals.

Dr Gary West and Wendy Stewart will perform in a pipes and harp duet, and Iain Morrison and friends will bring together pipes and strings. This will present a fabulous showcase of all things great about pipes and strings.

Piping Live! - International Piping Concert

This evening will be the jewel in the crown of Piping Live! 2009.

In this performance on the eve of the world championships you can expect to see great performances from Fred Morrison and guests, Paddy Keenan and German/Scottish group Homebound, who will give the evening an exotic flavour.

Open Mic UK is a new and exciting national talent competition to search for the UK's best singers, singer-songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres, performing either covers or original material.

The competition seeks to discover an act that has the ability to become a professional recording artist whilst offering the competitors the opportunity to perform live in front of large audiences, generating media attention and exposure.

The latter stages of the competition provides artists with the opportunity to impress judges and many guests from record labels, agencies and the entertainment industry, whilst competing for the chance to win up to £25,000 in prizes, and the winning act will have the opportunity to win a recording contact to release their single.

The guest speaker for this event is angel expert Diana Cooper, who will take a Unicorn Healing Workshop on Saturdayurday at 1pm, and a Healing, Enlightenment & Ascension Through Angel Orbs Workshop on Sunday at 1pm.
