Thea Gilmore plus Nigel Stonier

26th March,2011

The Arches

Thea Gilmore is a real person tackling the sort of issues real people deal with every day, only, unlike the rest of us, she tackles those issues with an utterly beautiful voice and songs that touch on folk and jazz and rock and Americana.
Not for no reason does Bruce Springsteen buy her records, do artistes ranging from Martha Wainwright to Mike Scott seek to collaborate with her, and not for no reason does Tom Waits' celebrated percussionist Michael Blair appear on Murphy's Heart, Gilmore’s tenth album – one that follows a sustained period of artistic and critical success.

The Imaginary Friends Tour with Boo Hewerdine and Dorie Jackson

Wednesday 30th March 2011

St Andrews in the Square, 1 St Andrews Square, Glasgow

Chris Difford is a rare breed. As a member of one of London’s best-loved bands, the Squeeze co-founder has made a lasting contribution to English music with hits such as ‘Cool For Cats’, ‘Up The Junction’, ‘Labelled With Love’, ‘Hourglass’ and ‘Tempted’. Despite the fact that Chris has helped soundtrack so many fans’ lives since his first release in 1977, the passion for innovation and love of playing still drives him to carry on writing rather than sit back and admire his handiwork.

The Imaginary Friends tour sees Chris joined by Boo Hewerdine and Dorie Jackson.

Chris’s new album ‘Cashmere If You Can’, released in September 2010 and available now on a track by track weekly basis via the Saturday Morning Music Club, is receiving great press – Uncut magazine have given early review copies four stars and the Daily Mail gave a four star review, saying ‘the songs are up to the standards of the pithy gems he once penned in Squeeze’

Tickets are priced £14.
