Documenting how one man was able to bamboozle the world’s wine elite.
Mon 19 (18.00) & Tue 20 Sep (20.55)
Running time: 1h25m
A humorous and suspenseful documentary about an ingenious con set within the world of fine and rare wine auction markets. An unassuming young man, Rudy Kurniawan, was considered a wine savant with a preternatural memory for taste. He surrounded himself with some of high society’s most fervent wine connoisseurs and in 2006 made 35 million dollars selling fraudulent wine through the top auction houses. A few years later, wine producer Laurent Ponsot discovers suspicious bottles and begins an investigation into how one man was able to bamboozle the world’s wine elite.
