The Celtic Music Radio Album of the Week commencing Saturday 24 November 2012 is the new CD from Jamie Smith's Mabon called 'Windblown'. Ross Macfadyen talks to Jamie about the band's new CD, the songs and the background to Welsh band Mabon. Jamie Smith's Mabon are Wales' finest purveyors of original 'InterCeltic' music. As comfortable on a world music stage as in a folk setting, theirs is a music that travels beyond borders to explore the forms and styles of the Celtic traditions and work then anew.

The Ubiquitous Chip, Ashton Lane

Join us to celebrate Scotland's Patron Saint with a very special live broadcast from the Ubiquitous Chip Restaurant bar on Wednesday 28 November. The Ubiquitous Chip is at 12 Ashton Lane, Hillhead, Glasgow G12 8SJ just off Byres Road at Hillhead subway station.

The night of live music performance in celebration of St Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland, will be with Celtic Music Radio presenters Gordon Hotchkiss from 7.00pm and Alan Burke and 10.00pm.

There will be a variety of sessions from musicians and singer-songwriters including Andrew Huggan, Patrick Bullen plus presenters award winning Trad musician Paddy Callaghan and Sandy Semeonoff intends to sing a few songs. On St Andrew's Day itself Friday 30 November and on Saturday 1 December, the Chip will be serving a Scottish feast to mark the occasion. Telephone the Chip on 0141 334 5007 for futher information.

This is the fourth year Celtic Music Radio has celebrated St. Andrew's Day at the Chip in the upstairs bar with live Scottish music, guests and chat broadcast live on 1530AM and online.

Fil Campbell guests on Ciaran's Sunday Session

Ciaran's guest 'castaway' on Sunday 25 November will be the popular Northern Irish singer Fil Campbell who is currently on tour in Scotland.

Fil's sixth solo album 'A Place of My Own' was released recently, and features another collection of old Irish songs which are dear to Fil's heart.

All the songs were originally recorded in the '30's and '40's by female singers. Fil's gigs around Scotland this coming week are on Monday, 26 November at the Glenfarg Folk Club, The Glenfarg Hotel, Main Street, Glenfarg, Perthshire from 8.00pm; Tuesday, 27 November at the Leith Folk Club, The Victoria Park House Hotel, 221 Ferry Road, Leith, Edinburgh EH6 4NN; Wednesday, 28 November 28 at Irvine Folk Club, Vineburgh Community Centre, Quarry Road, Irvine, Ayrshire and on Friday, 30 November 30 at Girvan Folk Club, Queen's Hotel, 1 Montgomerie Street, Irvine, Ayrshire.

Duncan McCrone is a Glasgow-born singer-songwriter with over 35 years experience of live performance both solo and with a variety of traditional bands. His first main gig was with Hot Toddy, in the early 1970s.

His most recent CD 'Colourblind' is is former Celtic Music Radio Album of the Week.

This week's Sandy Semeonoff 'Planet Waves' inludes music from Albania where independence from the Ottoman Empire was declared one hundred years ago on 28 November 1912.

The country's isolation during most of the 20th century kept some strange and wonderful musical traditions alive.
