Stardust

The Hoagy Carmichael Story

performed by Dave Anderson

Photo: hoagey carmichael story. The Award-winning team of Dave Anderson and David McLennan has created a new one-man show celebrating the life of legendary jazz songwriter and performer, Hoagy Carmichael.

Stardust is a tribute in music and words, to this chameleon who described his historic, record-breaking performance at the London Palladium in 1951 as "I wore m hat on the back of my head and no tie, with a cigarette drooping from my lips, and I lazied through the entire performance"

Stardust is created by the award winning team of Dave Anderson and David McLennan who co-founded Wildcat Stage Productions, the immensely popular Scottish music theatre company through the 80's & 90's?.

It is a humorous, touching, funny and sad tribute, which presents to the audience not only Hoagy himself, but twenty five colourful characters ranging from Hoagy's Grandma and Cousin Hugh, through The Train Driver and The Italian Boss to Irving Berlin and Bix Beiderbecke.

Stardust is performed by actor, composer, musician Dave Anderson, an accomplished and respected performer throughout the UK, and Europe. Dave is a skillful actor and a talented musician, whose stage performances enrapture audiences and critics alike:

Dave Anderson holds the floor with the easy style of a sit-down comedian, sliding over to the piano now and then to shimmy through a brief history of pop. Quite simply, it is a laugh from beginning to end.

"The music is still good, but it is the script and the acting that make this show electric? It crackles from start to finish."
