The Citizens' Theatre Society

The Citizens' Theatre Society exists to provide support to the Citizens Theatre and to encourage, educate and entertain potential audience members for the theatre.

Events are organised normally monthly from September to June each year including not only visits to the Citizens' Theatre but to other venues in Glasgow and to theatres outwith the city. Currently a visit to Perth Theatre is planned in February and to Pitlochry Theatre in June.

Details of the current programme are contained in the Society's newsletter 'The Prompter' copies of which can be picked up at the Citizens' Theatre.

Society Programme - January to June 2008

Full details of our planned programme for the spring are given below. Our two home fixtures are respectively in March a Citizens' co-production with the National Theatre of Scotland and the Royal Lyceum of Pirandello's Six Characters in Search of an Author in an adaptation by David Harrower and in May, Theatre Babel's production of Educating Agnes - a new version of Moliere's School for Wives by Liz Lochhead.

We're playing away at Perth in February where we see John Steinbeck's tale of two migrant farm workers trying to start a new life in California and in June at Pitlochry we'll be in 18th century England for Goldsmith's She Stoops to Conquer. The speaker at our AGM, Jon Morgan, Director of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe will whet our appetite for next year's event.
