Fashion and designer shops

Some of my favourite designer shops include those where I like to look and dream and those where I often buy.

Moon, in Ruthven Lane, off Byers Road is very stylish and chic and sells a lovely range of womens' clothing . Still their accessories are very tempting and staff are pleasant and not superior. (Watch out for more information about Moon in Pat's Picks for January).

In Starry, Starry Night also in Ruthven Lane you will find Betsy Grey's range of designer jewellery - with silver earrings and bangles in great designs.

Mumbo Jumbo in Cresswell Lane, off Byres Road has its own range of very wearable women's clothes. The colours and prints are great and new designs and materials are always being introduced. They also have a nice range of jewellery.

Catherine's of Partick, 106 Dumbarton Road. (339 1351). A 'Ladies Outfitter' for decades has a band of faithful followers and provides many beautiful outfits for weddings and other special occasions. The stock is really lovely and there are many simple chic designs as well as the sequinned numbers.

Brenda Muir, 157 Hyndland Road (334 5985) sells very chic ladies fashions and accessories and has really lovely window displays. Staff are helpful here.

Solo, 181 Hyndland Road (357 2334) a very popular 'independent fashion shop' selling very up to date designs.

Sadly the view I have expressed is shared by many. Gillians in Newton Mearns is another example of well trained well mannered staff whos only purpose is to serve their customers. Solo staff are a very different 'breed'.

I think that is a rather unfair deion of Solo and their staff, you must have caught someone on a bad day...they have never been rude to me in the many years I have shopped there and they are still there after 20+ years, so they must be doing something right.

Brenda Muir staff so gracious and helpful, sadly same can NOT be said of those 'ladies' in Solo, they are standoffish, unhelpful and cold.
