naomis journey

Wednesday 23 January, 2019

After the murder of her sister Mariella, 20-year-old Peruvian Naomi travels to Germany with her mother to engage in the murder trial. Sitting in the court Naomi and her mother are getting a deep and painful insight of the world Mariella was living in. The dream of establishing a better life in Germany is shaded by domestic violence and the racially shaped world view of her husband who killed her. The court drama “Naomi’s Journey” takes a close look at the language and the course of a proceeding court case in the context of marriage and poverty migration. The film by Frieder Schlaich is based on intensive research into numerous legal proceedings and highlights various perspectives. The court staff is played by real judges, prosecutors and defense lawyers. All tickets £6.00.
