Buchanan Steps

Raif Badawi is a Saudi Arabian blogger who, for no greater crime than championing the basic human right to free speech, has been sentenced to 1000 lashes and ten years in prison by the Saudi Arabian Government. While a huge international outcry has so far prevented the Saudi Government from carrying out the punishment, Raif still remains at risk- especially if the Saudi Government feel like the world has lost interest in the case. This vigil is a chance to maintain the pressure on the Government and show solidarity with Raif.

If you’re in town go along and lend your support.

Hello! We were forced to change the location of the vigil because the Orange Walk will be taking place in George Square. We will now be gathering next to the Donald Dewar Statue on Buchanan Street.
