GFF18 Submissions are now open!

GFF18 will take place between 21 February – 4 March 2018.

Deadline for submissions 30 October, 2017

Glasgow Film Festival (GFF) is committed to supporting emerging talent and providing audiences with the opportunity to see the best of world cinema. GFF’s strands include the best of new Scottish and British features, art/experimental film and video, gaming, music, documentaries and an annual country focus. 2018’s country of focus will be announced in the coming months.

The Festival is firmly established as one of the key events in the UK film calendar. The 2017 edition once again attracted audiences in excess of 40,000 for an ambitious, wide-ranging programme that included 65 UK premieres and films from 38 countries.

All first and second time feature filmmaker submissions are also eligible for nomination for the prestigious Audience Award, won by Deniz Gamze Ergüven’s Mustang at GFF16.

Audience Awards

The festival’s Audience Award continues to grow in reputation and benefitted in 2017 from generous sponsorship from ScotRail, allowing GFF to bring a record number of filmmakers to Scotland to introduce their films. The 2017 winner was Alankrita Shrivastava for Lipstick Under My Burkha, which was a submission, with the runner-up position secured by Halfway, a first feature from Scottish producer Jonny Paterson and director Ben Caird.

Behind the Scenes

The continuing popularity of the festival’s free Behind The Scenes events and the huge success of the Industry Focus programmes means that Glasgow more than ever is a festival for people who love movies and for people who are serious about making them. Glasgow is a great place to be for filmmakers, and is the hub of the Scottish Film Industry.

Should your film be programmed at GFF18, the likelihood is that you will be invited you to attend. GFF’s Industry Focus programme – launched in 2015. This has quickly become an integral part of the festival, allowing filmmaker guests the opportunity to network with their peers from other countries, meet commissioners and funders from across the UK and further afield, and  participate in pertinent industry panels and discussions.
