Cherrybean, Coffee House

Photo: Cherry Bean Cafe. Cherrybean is a wonderful little coffee shop located in the West End of Partick at 561 Dumbarton Road. Karen Mckay and her dad Tom are joint owners and together they have transformed this One Day Washhouse into a very welcoming and cosy spot, where Karen's friendly and attractive personality is reflected in the Cherrybean ambience.

Recently I've gone to Cherrybean on quite a few occasions - not only for the great coffee and my favourite Chai tea but because it is such a relaxing place. Everyone, regulars and first time customers, is greeted with a smile and the minute you step through the door you are made to feel very welcome - you know right away that you are in a cared for environment.

Watercolours by Lizzi Lockheart and also very eyecatching is a lovely image of Cherrybean painted by an artist friend of Karen's. It's definitely a good idea to utilise the cafe as a space to promote local artists as this adds to its charm.

The clientele not only attracts art lovers but is very mixed with single shoppers dropping in for lunch, small groups of knitters meeting up for a craft session and a chat and single shoppers looking for a pleasant lunch spot. It's a lovely place just to drop into on your own, or with your baby, I went along with Roy, Catherine and Baby Jack and we all agree that it was is a special place.

Karen is keen to extend the opening hours at Cherrybean until 8 p.m. and to cater for the needs of book groups, board gamers or reading groups, who could settle down very happily and privately in the back room at the cafe. So if you are looking for a pleasant spot for little functions you should contact Karen to talk about your idea
