Double Indemnity GFT
11 and 12 November, 2018
Wilder teamed up with crime writer Raymond Chandler to adapt James M. Cain’s novel, and the result set the template for the burgeoning film noir genre. Earning Wilder the first of his eight Best Director Oscar nominations, this fatalistic thriller is a doom-laden delight. Gullible insurance salesman Walter Neff, blinded by lust, throws caution and morality to the wind to murder his lover’s husband. And for Barbara Stanwyck at her unstoppable seductive peak, wouldn’t you too?
