Celtic Connections 2016 proudly presents: Peatbog Faeries plus Radio Cos
Saturday 23 January, 2016 Doors 7 p.m.
O2 ABC Glasgow
Almost two decades after bursting onto the scene with their debut album Mellowosity, Skye’s Peatbog Faeries remain “one of the great Scottish festival bands” (Guardian). Staunch traditional roots, via their bagpipes/fiddle frontline, branch into myriad wilder dimensions – techno, trance, Afro-beat, psychedelia – driven by utterly irresistible grooves.
With new album ‘Blackhouse’ picking up rave reviews, the Faeries look well on the wing for another 20 years.
“Seven shades of brilliant” (Spiral Earth)
Fronted by singer-percussionists Quique Peón and Xurxo Fernandes, Galicia’s Radio Cos recapture the exuberant spirit of traditional village music, also featuring accordion, fiddle, gaita and saxophone. “Robust, jubilant, gutsy music…Magnificent, huge fun” (fRoots)
