Billy Connolly’s Art, until 18 February, 2016 – People’s Palace
Glasgow Green, Glasgow G40 1AT
The exhibition, with over 40 original Billy Connolly’s artwork runs until February 18, 2016.
Talking about his drawings Connolly said:
‘My art is pure and unjudged, I am creating it for myself. I don’t want them to be judged…they’re little friends of mine.’
Connolly describes the process of drawing as meditative, where his inspiration comes from being alone on a page. His characters are faceless and anonymous. They seem to be devoid of emotion or expression, yet we the audience can feel a strong connection with them.
The People’s Palace and Winter Gardens is the only venue for this exhibition outside of London, which is in partnership with Washington Green Fine Art and Castle Galleries.
