Beyond the Mud Walls
by Nalini Paul
directed by Muriel Romanes
Stellar Quines Theatre Group, 30B Grindlay Street, EH3 9AX
Beyond the Mud Walls explores the life of Freda Bedi, an English political prisoner for India’s independence and the first Western woman to take ordination in Tibetan Buddhism. Poetry and Indian classical dance weave a rich, colourful backdrop, giving voice to India’s forgotten heroines. Partly based on Bedi’s book, Behind the Mud Walls (1943).
Join Nalini, Director Muriel Romanes and the cast, including dancers from Dance Ihayami for the culmination of a years development supported by Creative Scotland, the Tom McGrath Trust and a Dance Base residency.
